Djukovic said: "I don't know whether Dong was injured himself or Sir Alex Ferguson did not let him go. Maybe you should ask the coach of Manchester United."

Dong failed to reach here due to the injury. He was expected to join the Chinese Olympic team before its opening match of the four-nation invitational tournament, which kicked off Wednesday.

The 22-year-old Dong, a leading member of China's attacking line-up, was reported to have injured his ankle in the English Premier League club's 3-0 victory in Guangzhou Friday during their Asian Tour.

The Chinese striker returned to England with his club, who kick-off the new season Aug 12 when they host newly promoted Reading at Old Trafford.
