He said the Islamic Republic always showed enough strength to face up any threat, and if the Americans attacked the country they would suffer serious damage, worse than those in Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, and other countries.

In a statement to Al Arabiya television channel on Friday, the Iranian Ayatollah said that he has a feeling that the US, Great Britain, and their allies, even NATO, are in a dead end in the Persian Gulf country and, and Afghanistan.

Responding a question whether the situation created in those two countries meant a threat for the Persian country, Rafsanjani said that from the psychological and historical point of view, powers in those situations acted in an abnormal way and in different directions.
