According to the Embassy of Denmark, the additional fund, provided under the agreement between the two governments on April 4th 2007 and given couple of months after the initial support of Rs 120 million by Denmark, is chiefly for preparations for forthcoming Constituent Assembly elections slated for November 22.

The Ministry of Finance has already handed over the initial support of Rs 120 million to the Election Commissions for the same purpose, the embassy said.

“The Government of Denmark finds the coming Constituent Assembly Elections crucial for the creation of peace in Nepal and the creation of a new Nepal,” stated the press release, adding, “This election is not a normal election, but an instrument to create peace and unity and to create a Constitutional Assembly that can make a foundation for the new Nepal.”
