Iraqi PM pays tribute to late Imam Khomeini

Shahr-e Rey, Tehran Prov : Prime Minister of Iraq Nuri al-Maliki and his entourage paid tribute to the Father of the Islamic Revolution, the late Imam Khomeini, on Thursday.

The Iraqi premier arrived in Tehran Wednesday at the head of a high-ranking political and economic delegation. This is his second visit to Tehran since he took office in May 2006.

In a ceremony held at the mausoleum of the Founder of the Islamic Republic in southern Tehran, al-maliki laid a wreath on the late Imam’s grave.

After attending the ceremony, he signed the memorial book of the late Imam Khomeini.

The Iraqi premier has so far, held separate talks with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, First Vice-President Parviz Davoudi and Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Larijani.
