Delhi fashion designer set on fire

New Delhi : A fashion designer was battling for life with 80 percent burns here Sunday after two unidentified men poured kerosene on her and set her on fire outside her south Delhi home a day earlier, police said.

Mona Suri, 35, has been admitted to Safdarjung Hospital.

According to her domestic help, two men arrived on a blue motorcycle Saturday evening and poured kerosene on Mona when she answered the doorbell. The designer lives with her in-laws and two children in upscale Greater Kailash II area.

She was first rushed to the Holy Family Hospital and later shifted to Safdarjung Hospital.

Her husband, who was away in Goa, has been informed about the attack and is on his way to Delhi, a police official said. “We haven’t been able to arrest anyone but investigations are underway.”
