Srinagar : Security forces claimed to have killed a Pakistani militant belonging to LeT outfit in Zainapora area of Pulwama, here this evening.
According to SSP Pulwama, Nitish Kumar, Police received specific information regarding presence of militants in the house of one Abdul Hamid in village Half-Hour Zainapora, Pulwama on which a joint operation was launched by Pulwama Police along with 62-RR.
He said that as the Police cordoned off the target house, the militants opened indiscriminate fire on Police, which was duly retaliated and in the ensuing encounter one Pakistani militant was gunned down.
As per the dairy recovered from the slain militant, SSP identified him as Nasir Iqbal @ Abdul Rehman Saani alias Hanzulla, R/O 162-Block No:9, Dastgeer society, Federal-B area Karachi Pakistan. He said that the killed militant belonged to LeT outfit; however, his identity is being
confirmed from other sources also.
The slain militant was an old LeT operative in Zainapora area and was responsible number of subversive activities including blast on National highway, some time back, in which two CRPF Personnel were killed near Sangam, he added.
He further said that the slain militant was a close associate of notorious militant “Pintoo Malik” who was killed by Police on April 14, at Shopian and was also involved in the recent attack on MLA Wachi.
He said that besides attack on IRCON engineers at Naina Pulwama in which one Policeman was killed, the slain militant was also responsible for attack on Police on July31, at Shopian.
