Some 20-22 of the BJP’s 53 MLAs in the 90-member assembly rebelled against Chief Minister Raman Singh last month.

Seven of them had rushed to Delhi, managed to meet Rajanth Singh and sought replacement of Raman Singh accusing him of surrendering before bureaucrats and ignoring the party’s dedicated cadres.

“We have sought time to meet our party president on Aug 17 during his transit visit to Raipur on the way to industrial city Korba. We are hopeful of getting his appointment,” a BJP Lok Sabha MP and senior tribal leader who wanted his name to be withheld told IANS Monday.

The BJP president will be in Chhattisgarh Friday to dedicate to people a thermal power unit at Korba, 220 km north of here.

“Everything is not well in the party and the government here. We want to brief him (Rajnath Singh) about how a coterie has been dominating the government and playing with the future of the party,” a dissident leader asserted.

“Since the state is going to assembly polls next year, the BJP still has time left to correct the mistakes and regain people’s faith.”
