New Delhi : India’s Rohan Bopanna teamed up with Aisam-ul Haq Qureshi of Pakistan to capture the doubles crown of the $50,000 Bronx Tennis Classic in New York, reports the official ATP website.
The fourth seeded pair Sunday defeated American qualifiers Alberto Fracnis and Philip King 6-3, 2-6, 10-5 (pro set) to claim the $3,100 top prize and, more importantly, 55 ATP points.
Bopanna improved five places in the ATP doubles rankings to reach 84th while Qureshi jumped 18 places to 113th after the victory.
The win would give the pair a boost for this week’s qualifying matches for the US Open starting next Monday.
