Vajpayee, 83, was admitted to AIIMS Tuesday after he complained of giddiness and drowsiness.

“His condition is stable and satisfactory. All his vital signs are normal,” said Shakti Gupta, chief medical officer of the R.P Centre for Ophthalmology, AIIMS.

Doctors said the Bharatiya Janata Party leader was likely to be discharged Friday.

“We will review his health condition tonight and take a decision about the duration of his hospital stay,” said a senior doctor.

A team of doctors, including cardiologists, neurologists and medicine specialists were closely monitoring his health at the Cardio-Thoracic and Neuroscience Centre.

Officials said the former prime minister was taking food normally and attending to his visitors.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had called on Vajpayee Wednesday and inquired about his health. Besides, former deputy prime minister L.K. Advani, former vice-president Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Health Minister A. Ramadoss have visited him.
