Islamabad : Former prime minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) will name its candidates for the Jan 8 elections Tuesday.
Party president Shahbaz Sharif will chair the meeting of the parliamentary board to finalise the candidates.
PML-N has threatened to boycott the elections if the government fails to lift the emergency, which President Pervez Musharraf imposed Nov 3, and restore Pakistan judiciary before the elections.
A senior PML-N leader told Daily Times that the party leadership could review its decision to boycott the elections.
He, however, said that final decision on the option would be made after a meeting between Sharif and Benazir Bhutto on Monday.
“PML-N would withdraw its candidates if Sharif and Bhutto agreed on poll boycott, but if this didn’t happen, then the party would consider contesting polls,” the newspaper said citing Sharif.
