Four held for killing a tiger in Orissa

Bhubaneswar : Four people were arrested for killing a tiger and keeping its hide in a village in Orissa’s Jajpur district, an official said Wednesday.

Following a tip-off, a team of forest and police officials raided a house in Gopalpur village, about 100 km from the capital Bhubaneswar, and arrested the four men involved. The team also seized the animal’s hide kept in the house.

“After killing the tiger in a nearby forest, they skinned the animal,” a range officer told IANS.

“We have seized the hide and also timber worth Rs. 50,000 from the house,” he added.

The accused were produced at the court of judicial magistrate in Jajpur Wednesday.
