Lucknow : The body of a slain Pakistani militant, Noorbaksh alias Noora, is lying in Lucknow for more than a month for burial but no one has come forward to claim the body.
Noora was killed Oct 24 in Lucknow when he tried to escape from the police custody while he was being taken to a court.
Though officials have contacted the Pakistan High Commission in the capital for handing over the body, the mission officials have not yet responded to the request.
At present, the body is lying in the mortuary of Chhatrpati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University (CSMMU) in Lucknow. The authorities here are uncertain about what to do with the militant’s body.
Superintendent of the Shahuji Maharj Medical university M.L.B. Bhatt has written to the chief medical officer in Lucknow to take a decision on the case quickly since the body will soon start to decompose.
The chief medical officer in Lucknow said that he has again requested the district magistrate in Lucknow to contact Pakistani authorities to take away the body.
