Chennai: December 6, 2007 is the 15th Anniversary of the demolition of Babri Masjid. On this occasion Tamilnadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam organized picketing programmes in front of the Madras High Court, the Bench of Madras High Court in Madurai as well in all District Courts in Tamilnadu. More than 50,000 men and women courted arrest in this occasion.
Tamilnadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam has since its inception in 1995 organized various forms of agitations on the anniversary of the demolition of Babri Masjid. This year the agitations were organized in front of the Courts to highlight the delay in the Courts in dealing with the various facets of the Babri Masjid issue.
The title suit of Babri Masjid filed in 1961, is still in the process of trial in the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court.
The criminal case filed against LK Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi, Bal Thackeray, Ashok Singhal, Uma Bharati, Vinay Katiyar and their cohorts is also pending before a court in Uttar Pradesh for the last 15 years.
The Liberhan Commission which was constituted to enquire about the demolition of Babri Masjid has consumed 75 lakh Rupees and 15 years without a report.
TMMK said in a statement that the Courts even work on Holidays on certain issues like the recent example of Sethu Samuthiram Project. However they have been sitting idle on the cases in which not only the interest of Minorities but also the secular credentials of the country is involved.
Tamilnadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam organised the picketing programme to highlight the following demands-
Expeditious trial and judgement in the Babri Masjid title suit now pending in the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court
Expeditious trial and punishment in the Babri Masjid demolition case involving Advani and company
Submission of the Liberhan Commission report without any further extension and delay
To bring to book Bal Thackeray and his stooges who have been named as accused by the Srikrishna Commission which enquired the Mumbai riots of 1992 and 1993
To bring to book Narendira Modi and his stooges who stand exposed by Tehelka’s investigation.
Prof. M.H. Jawahirullah, President of Tamilnadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam led the agitation in front of the Madras High Court. Mr. S. Hyder Ali, General Secretary of Tamilnadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam led the agitation in front of the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court. Agitations in front of District Sessions Court were led by various state office bearers of Tamilnadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam.
