Patna : A fast-track court in Bihar Tuesday convicted former state minister Aditya Singh in connection with a 2006 murder case.
The court found Singh and three others guilty in a murder of a village executive head in Nawada district last year. The quantum of punishment would be announced Wednesday, court sources said.
Singh, currently in jail, is a known “bahubali” (muscle power) leader. He faces several criminal cases, including murder, kidnapping and extortion.
Several politicians, including Rashtrya Janata Dal MP Mohammad Shahabuddin, former MP Anand Mohan Singh, his wife and former MP Lovely Anand, Janata Dal-United (JD-U) legislator Munna Shukhla were convicted in Bihar in the speedy trial initiated by Nitish Kumar-led government last year.
According to official sources, the fast-track courts have so far convicted over 15,000 criminals across the state.
