Beirut : A senior Lebanese army officer was among those killed in a car explosion east of Beirut Wednesday, security sources said.
Four people were killed and 10 others injured Wednesday in the explosion near the Christian town of Baabda, east of Beirut, local media reported, quoting security sources.
The Lebanese Committee of the Red Cross has rushed to the scene to send the injured to hospital, said the reports, adding that the explosion also left more than five cars in fire.
Baabda is the site of Lebanon’s presidential palace and many embassies.
The cause of the blast is yet to be determined.
