BJP will win in Gujarat, Himachal: Rudy

Agartala : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sunday claimed it would win the assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh which in turn would mark the beginning of an end of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government in New Delhi.

“We would have a landslide victory in the two states and the poll results would mark the final countdown for the fall of the UPA government,” said Rajiv Pratap Rudy, the party’s national spokesman.

Claiming a BJP wave was slowly sweeping across the country, the BJP leader said his party was ready to face early polls in 2008 instead of 2009.

“In the next general election the party would expose the conspiracy of the Congress and the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) on the India-US nuclear deal and other vital issues,” Rudy said.

The former union minister, said: “In the recent past, the CPI-M got unmasked and their anti-Americanism (was found to be) sans merit on ideological grounds while the BJP wants complete abrogation of the 123 agreement.”

“The Singur and Nandigram issues put the Left parties, specially the CPI-M on the back foot.”

Rudy was here to attend a party conference.
