Islamabad : The Pakistan Interior Ministry Friday directed all the four provincial authorities to further beef up security across the country, following the suicide attack in Charsada.
Interior Secretary Syed Kamal Shah told APP that security was already very tight and a metal detector gate was installed at the venue, where former Interior Minister Aftab Sherpao was to say his prayers.
He said security across the country was already on high alert during the Eid and additional deployments were made at all places where Eid prayers were to be held.
He said a joint investigation team has been set-up to investigate the suicide attack and to track down the perpetrators who had planned the act.
He said over a thousand people were at the Eid congregation and the blast injured the son of Aftab Sherpao, who had already survived an attempt on his life.
