Ferry accident in Nile kills 13 in Egypt

Cairo : At least 13 people have been killed and three others missing in a ferry accident in southern Egypt, officials said Sunday.

According to officials, the accident occurred Saturday when a minibus fell into the Nile river while trying to board a ferry to move from the eastern bank of the river to the western bank near a village in Minya governorate, about 220 km from here.

Thirteen bodies have so far been recovered while three others were still missing, the officials said.

The accident also left three others wounded.

This is the third major accident in Egypt in the last three days.

Thursday, a metro train derailed on the outskirts of Cairo, leaving at least 43 passengers injured.

Eight people were killed and 23 others injured Friday when a bus collided head-on with another vehicle in Fayyum governorate, about 85 km south of Cairo.
