Tehran : Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki here on Tuesday called for return of Iran’s nuclear case to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
“Since both the world and the IAEA have become confident of peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program, it is time for return of Iran’s nuclear case to the agency through a bravely and logical decision,” he added.
The Iranian foreign minister made the remark in a meeting with the visiting head of foreign relations commission of Turkish Parliament Murat Mercan.
He said Iran’s success in the area of peaceful nuclear program is indebted to the country’s rightful stand and resistance of the nation.
On Iran-Turkey relations, Mottaki called for further expansion of all-out ties between the two states, saying the two neighboring countries enjoy historic friendly relations.
He further reiterated, “Existence of a powerful and developed Turkey with high potentials would benefit Iran.”
Mottaki said Tehran-Ankara economic relations have been unprecedented in the history of two countries.
Referring to Tehran-Ankara relations in the areas of oil and gas as an appropriate pattern for development of bilateral cooperation in other areas, he called for continued exchange of views between the two countries officials.
On situation in the neighboring Iraq, the Iranian foreign minister noted, “Iran and Turkey can play major and effective roles in establishment of security in Iraq.”
He added, “Tehran and Ankara share identical views regarding Iraqi security and territorial integrity.”
For his part, the Turkish parliamentarian, said, Iran and Turkey are considered as two major countries in the region. “Turkey is interested in expansion of all-out ties with Iran,” he added.
Expressing his satisfaction with the current level of bilateral economic cooperation, Mercan called for further boost in mutual economic ties.
He further voiced Ankara’s interest in the presence of Turkish businessmen and traders in Iran.
Mercan also called for joint cooperation in establishment of peace and security in the region.
