Ramallah : At the end of a second session of peace talks, Palestinian negotiators said late Monday that they asked Israeli side to stop all settlements activities in the Palestinian territories.
“It is necessary that Israel stops building settlements in Jerusalem and in the West Bank, because it is illegal,” said negotiator Yasser Abed Rabbo, also a member of Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO).
“We insisted and will keep insisting to get all Palestinian rights,” he asserted.
Abed Rabbo slammed the Israeli decision to build more housing units in a settlement between east Jerusalem and Bethlehem in the West Bank, saying “what Israel is doing blocks the talks and contradicts with the roadmap plan.”
A second session of talks was held on Monday evening between Palestinian and Israeli negotiators, who focused only on the settlements issues.
“Israel insists to build settlements in Jerusalem, as if Jerusalem is not included in the final status issues. Jerusalem occupies a very essential position in the talks, and building settlements there is rejected,” said Abed Rabbo.
