Ramallah : Palestinian Information Minister Riyadh Al-Malki revealed Monday that a meeting between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert would be held soon.
He added during a press conference that the meeting would focus on halting the spread of Israeli settlements as a vital point of negotiations, affirming that the second meeting between the Israeli and Palestinian negotiation team would focus on the issue.
The Palestinian Minister said that authorities here were eagerly awaiting the visit by U.S. President George W. Bush to the region, indicating that they would call for stopping the spread of Jewish settlement as agreed in the US-sponsored Annapolis peace conference.
The Palestinian government is ready to supervise the Gaza gate-point whether it was with the cooperation of Hamas or not, stated Al-Malki, affirming that the step would allow the government to lift the siege of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Al-Malki indicated that it would take time to benefit from the money given by the Donors Conference which was held in Paris.
