Sana'a : President Ali Abdullah Saleh has expressed sorrow and condemned the terror act targeted at Spanish tourists in the Mareb governorate Monday.
The attack resulted in the death of seven Spanish tourists and two Yemenis while eight others were injured. The initial information indicated that the al-Qeada is behind the attack.
Saleh said that the terrorists who are behind the attack will not escape justice.
He expressed the deep condolences on behalf of the Yemeni people and government in a telephone call to Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luiz Rodriguez Zapatero who appreciated the care and treatment provided to the injured Spanish tourists.
He also said that the Mareb terror attack would not harm Yemeni-Spanish friendly ties.
Saleh also indicated that the attack is not the first terror act that took place in Yemen or in such friendly country in the world, pointing out that al-Qaeda and its elements have committed similar terror acts against the USS Cole in Aden, the French Lumbrge off the
Yemeni shores, the oil facilities.
He added that all countries are targeted by terror, calling the world community to gather its efforts to face this "serious plague".
