In an article entitled No Progress Report, the daily slammed Bush’s speech on Thursday, in which he tried to convince the American people that Pentagon forces are being successful in Iraq.

“Bush still refrains from talking of what almost everybody think is a key: the need of an organized plan to release US troops from a lost cause, and reactivate them so that they can genuinely protect our national interests,” says the Times.
According to the daily, amid the lack support from of Republican leaders, and the desperation of US population due to the Iraq war, Bush still tries to change the reality to show that his failed effort is worth.

In his Thursday speech, the US president emphasized that Washington will not step back in its occupation plan of Iraq, since it would be terrible for the US security.
