New Delhi : The Executive Council of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has resolved to file a petition in the Supreme Court for review of its judgements that have went against Islamic Shari'ah. It has also decided on one hand to impress upon the Union Government as well as political parties in the United Progressive Alliance coalition to amend the existing laws whereby the courts of law might not pronounce judgements against the Shari'ah, and on the other to mobilise public opinion in a way that Muslims get their family disputes settled in Darul Qadas or with the help of Ulema rather than in courts.
"Muslims should take a pledge to seek the help of Ulema or go to Darul Qadas rather than knocking the doors of courts to get their family disputes settled. For it is mandatory for Muslims to get their family disputes, if any, resolved in the light of Islamic Shari'ah; and those who do not resolve their disputes in the light of the Divine commandments have severe chastisement in store," an AIMPLB statement said soon after its Executive Council meeting chaired by the Board's president Maulana Syed Rabey Hasani Nadwi concluded here Saturday.
The Board decided that its legal cell would draft a document of necessary amendments in laws in the light of recent judgements related to the rights of Muslim divorcees pronounced by the Supreme Court, and strive to get the amendments effected.
The Board formed the Central Social Reform Committee with Maulana Syed Wali Rahmani as its convenor to accelerate its social reform activities and launch a movement to mobilise public opinion in favour of social reformation and solution of disputes in the light of Shari'ah alone.
The Executive Committee of the Board considered the draft document for amendment in the Central Wakf Board 1995, prepared by Assistant General Secretary Muhammad Abdur Raheem Qureshi and convenor Legal Cell Yusuf Hatim Muchalla, and passed it with certain modifications to be submitted before the Joint Parliamentary Committee for its approval.
The Board also resolved to send a delegation to Lt. Governor of Delhi for amendment in the development planning of Greater Delhi, which has posed demolition threat to three mosques and one madrasa.
