Iran, IAEA start second round of nuclear talks in Vienna

Vienna : Representatives of Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) started the second round of their talks at the UN office in the Austrian capital behind closed doors Tuesday morning.

Iran's Under-Secretary of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Javad Vaeedi and the IAEA Safeguards chief, Olli Heinonen are heads of the two negotiating delegations.

The two are to review mechanism to solve remaining issues between Iran and IAEA on Tehran's peaceful nuclear activities.

The first round of talks between Iran and the UN nuclear watchdog was held on July 12 between Vaeedi and Heinonen.

The two had reached some agreements then upon which the IAEA inspectors were allowed to inspect Iran's heavy water reactor in Arak according to a time-table to be set by Iran.

The inspections would be conducted based on IAEA's Safeguard Agreement.

Moreover, Iran has to proceed with its cooperation with IAEA according to international rules and regulations within NPT protocols.

The two sides also agreed to draw up a framework within 60 days to settle the nuclear dispute.
