Chennai : Accusing the DMK government of indulging in political vendetta, Former Tamil Nadu chief minister and AIADMK chief J. Jayalalitha Sunday said her party had received a notice threatening demolition of its headquarters here.
The Tamil Nadu government (through the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority) has sent a notice to the AIADMK asking it to demolish the party headquarters on the Awai Shanmugam Road (Lloyds Road) in Royapettah area in the heart of Chennai, Jayalalitha said in a statement.
She termed the move as "political vendetta".
Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi should realise that he was enjoying power "only on a temporary basis", she said, adding: "Power has gone to his head."
The AIADMK office was a "fort" that the party cadres would sacrifice to protect, she said and threatened to "wipe the DMK out from the political map of the state".
