In a decision taken late Friday, Indian Police Service officer B.S. Thind was given back his rank of additional director general of police. This followed a decision by a committee set up under Chief Secretary S.S. Parmar.

Thind was suspended from service after a court in Patiala in Punjab issued a non bailable warrant against him in September last year over alleged non-repayment of bank loans amounting to Rs.35 million.

His exact posting has not been decided. He has a few months to go before he retires.
