India’s Areva T&D secures Rs. 1.15 bn order from MPPTCL

Bhopal, June 12: Areva T&D India`s transmission & distribution (T&D) division has broken fresh ground with their largest ever product package order in India. Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company (MPPTCL), transmission and distribution electricity utility of Madhya Pradesh, has awarded a contract to Areva (Q – Quote, N – News, C – Chart, F – Financials)T&D for 22 x 160 MVA 220/132/33 KV auto-transformers and 4 x 100 MVA 220/33/33 kV two winding transformers, including transport and supervision of erection and commissioning.
   
According to website myiris.com the company recently announced the commissioning of their new greenfield power transformer factory at Baroda.
   
Totaling over Rs 1.15 billion (about US $28.75 millions), this is a big product package order for the company to date. To be deployed in various grid substations throughout Madhya Pradesh, these transformers will be used to establish new substations and strengthen the existing ones. This is an Asian Development Bank funded project. The product delivery is expected to commence from mid March 2008 and completion by February 2009.
   
The products vertical of the company contributes substantially to its total Indian business and has a broad range of offerings in both the high voltage and the medium voltage segment. The company`s over 50 years of operating experience in India is complimented with its strong order bookings and new business ventures across its products, systems, automation and service verticals in the power transmission and distribution arena.
