Indian employees’ strike affects Kolkata airport

Kolkata : Most Indian flights from Kolkata failed to take off Wednesday as the indefinite strike by the state-run carrier's ground staff severely affected services at the airport here.

"Only one flight has taken off till 12 noon of the 12 scheduled to leave," Indian spokesman P. Mukherjee told IANS.

A Delhi-bound flight left the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) here in the morning while a flight bound for Port Blair might leave, the official said.

Four flights, including those from Bangalore, New Delhi and Mumbai, have arrived since morning, Mukherjee added.
