New Delhi : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi is likely to be inducted into the union council of ministers as a minister of state.
The DMK chief, who held a 30-minute meeting with Congress President Sonia Gandhi along with his daughter Thursday night, said she would be joining the government.
Kanimozhi, a well-known Tamil poet and activist, reached here Thursday night and accompanied her father to the residence of Sonia Gandhi along with DMK Minister T.R. Baalu, union shipping minister.
The DMK chief had played a major role in enabling a consensus on the United Progressive Alliance's choice of presidential candidate – Rajasthan Governor Pratibha Patil – after the Left parties rejected the names proposed by the Congress.
The DMK has currently seven members in the central government.
