Fatah grants amnesty to Hamas activists

Ramallah : Al-Aqsa Brigades, the military wing of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement, Saturday granted amnesty to dozens of Hamas activists in the West Bank.

Abu O'dai, a senior al-Aqsa Brigades member, said in a statement that in accordance to the instructions of the political leadership, "we declare amnesty to all Hamas activists in the West Bank".

"In spite of Hamas crimes committed against our brothers in Fatah movement in the Gaza Strip, we decided to leave the matter to the political leadership to decide what to do against Hamas actions," Abu O'dai said.

In a fierce gun battle in the Gaza Strip since early this week, Hamas militants took over the Palestinian security, police and military headquarters, including Abbas' house and office.

According to official figures released by the Palestinian health ministry, more than 130 were killed and over than 200 others wounded during Fatah-Hamas clashes in the Gaza Strip since early this week.

Meanwhile, Hamas in the Gaza Strip said in an official statement that there were 205 violation cases carried out by Fatah militants against Hamas activists in the West Bank, including attacking Hamas institutes and detaining activists.
