Amritsar : Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal Sunday directed the state home department to clear all pending cases of release of jail inmates who had completed their term or were likely to complete it in the next six months.
During an inspection of the Amritsar Central Jail here, Badal directed the state home secretary to immediately submit a status report on the issue.
"The release of such prisoners who had completed their term should be done on a priority basis," Badal said.
He asked the officials to speed up proposals for jail reform and add facilities for the benefit of prisoners and relatives who come to visit them.
