Doordarshan launches two channels in Britain

New Delhi : Doordarshan has launched two channels in Britain with the idea of bringing "the essence of India to Great Britain", Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi said here Tuesday.

DD India and DD News were launched by Rayat Television Enterprises of Rayat Group in Britain after it entered into an agreement with Prasar Bharati, the public service broadcaster, for five years, the minister said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.

The two channels started broadcasting 24 hours a day from April 16.

DD India has seven Hindi and six English news bulletins while DD News has 19 English and 24 Hindi news bulletins a day, Dasmunsi said.
