"The award for 2004 has been given to Ami Adhar's Hindi book 'Samachar Sankalan and Anuvad'," Veena Jain, director of the division, said Thursday.

Nidar, 35, said his book would go a long way in helping students pursue a career in media.

"Print journalism is going through a serious transformational phase, one that could redefine the parameters of free expression in an open society. The tussle for supremacy between the electronic and print media could throw up a whole range of new challenges for which the new entrants have to be prepared," Nidar said.

Nidar is a senior correspondent with the Dainik Jagran newspaper in Agra.
