Bhopal : Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has invited British investors to participate in a global meet, to be held here in October, to boost investments in the state.
Chouhan, who was in London to extend a personal invitation to businesses interested in investing in the state, also held discussions with British MPs at the House of Commons Friday and discussed matters relating to investment in Madhya Pradesh with representatives of Liberty International PLC, officials said here Saturday.
He met British MPs and told them that he was in London to invite investors there to the Global Investors Meet to be held in Bhopal Oct 25-27 and to apprise them about investment prospects.
Chouhan told them that Madhya Pradesh had developed a "single table" clearance for all investment projects and it offered vast scope for overseas investments in sectors like infrastructure, agro-processing, automobiles, IT, and development of tourist spots.
He said the mineral-rich state which has already attracted Rs.110 billion investments from the US and Rs.800 million from Britain – mostly from NRI industrialist Lord Swraj Paul – has skilled manpower, abundant power, water and tourist spots of historic importance.
The chief minister also addressed an interactive session with potential investors and said that the overseas delegates attending the investors meet would be treated as state guests.
Chouhan is also scheduled to visit the US accompanied by a large business delegation.
