Tikrit (Iraq) : Unidentified gunmen killed five people, including four women, and wounded three in separate attacks in Salahudin province north of Baghdad, a provincial police source said Saturday.
"Unknown armed men opened fire at a civilian car near the town of Balad, some 80 km north of Baghdad, killing three women and wounding two men late on Friday," a police source from Salahudin province said.
In Samarra city, 120 km north of the capital, gunmen shot dead a police officer in front of his house in central city, the source added.
Another group of gunmen stormed the house of a police colonel in the city, broke his two arms and brutally slaughtered his young daughter under his nose before they fled the scene, the source said.
The city of Samarra has been blocked and under traffic ban for seven days after two car bomb attacks targeted the city police, killing 12 policemen, the source added.
