Ranchi : Four Maoist rebels have been arrested from Gumla district of Jharkhand state in a joint operation of Ranchi and Gumla police, officials said Friday.
Police sources said four activists of the outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-M) were arrested Thursday night from Kamdara police station, about 130 Km from the state capital Ranchi. Police have have kept their identities a secret.
Official sources said the police seized incriminating documents from the arrested Maoists. During interrogation, the arrested rebels revealed the hideout of some hard-core Maoist rebels and police have constituted a special team to raid the place.
Maoist rebels are active in 16 of the 22 districts of the state. Nearly 600 people including 290 security personnel have been killed in last six years in Maoist related violence.
