The decision came after a seven-member UAE delegation led by Interior Ministry Under Secretary Saif Abdullah Al Shafar met Indian Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta and other officials here.

"Issues of security-related cooperation between India and UAE were discussed during the meeting which lasted over an hour. Both sides agreed to move forward meaningfully in this direction," a home ministry statement said.

The UAE delegation will now hold further detailed discussions with the concerned officers and agencies of the Indian government "to work out details of agreements and institutional arrangements to carry forward this cooperation", the statement said.

The UAE delegation also called on Home Minister Shivraj Patil.
