Sources close to the doctor said he might take over as head of the cardiology department at the Apollo hospitals.

“I am thinking about it (joining Apollo) and a final decision would be taken Wednesday evening,” Trehan told IANS.

Trehan and the Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre (EHIRC) management were at loggerheads for a week after he was sacked from the hospital May 18 on the ground of “conflict of interest”.

However, after huge media interest and pressure from common friends and industry leaders, Fortis Healthcare, which has acquired 90 percent stake in the Escorts, had reinstated Trehan as executive director of the hospital Saturday.

The hospital management withdrew the police case it had filed against him and termed his sacking last week as a “result of misunderstanding”.

“As a result of misunderstanding, allegations and accusations were made that are now regretted by all. These allegations stand completely and unconditionally withdrawn. The extremely valuable contribution made by executive director and founder Dr. Naresh Trehan is recognised,” the management had said Saturday.
