Islamabad : Thirteen people including two women were killed in a firing incident Thursday near northwestern Pakistani city of Tank, state media reported.
Unknown gunmen entered the house of a local official and opened fire, the state-run Pakistan Television (PTV) reported.
The private DAWN news channel said the incident occurred in an area of some 25 km away from Tank city, and mortar and rockets were used in the attack.
There is no immediate claim of responsibility.
Thursday's incident came as Tank, a volatile city in Pakistan's North West Frontier Province, has seen continuous ambush or bombing attacks on security troops and officials in recent days.
Gunmen shot dead a security officer near Tank on May 28 in an attack, and later the same day a suicide bomber driving an explosives-laden car hit a convoy of Frontier Constabulary, killing two soldiers on the spot.
