Mayawati in J&K, promises reservation to religious minorities

Jammu, Nov 18 (NAK) Seeking support from the people of Jammu and kashmir Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati outspread a new social vision here Sunday, promising reservation for deprived section of upper castes and religious minorities of the country and J&K in particular.

Addressing the gathering of about thirty thousand people at Parade ground Jammu, the BSP president said that her party believes that goal of societal justice would not be met unless all downtrodden sections of the polity got equal opportunities and that was possible by offering them reservations in jobs and admissions.

Coming down heavily on Congress led governments at the centre for ignoring the poor people and allowing themselves to be guided by the interests of the business houses.

Making difference among the two parties BSP and Congress Mayawati said that they have become parties of the business houses,’ adding ‘We are the party of the poor masses’. And that is the difference.

Claiming a new social vision, promising reservation for poverty-stricken people in upper castes and religious minorities of the country and J&K in particular would be formulated; adding if voted to power will implement the same through out the country.

She repeatedly recalled her experience as how she won the hearts of the people of Utter Pradesh and constructs the two room sets for them besides leasing out land for cultivation.

She asked the party workers to gear up their activities for the coming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, adding BSP if voted to Power in the state will ensure reservation to all including the poor people of upper sections and religious minorities

The party won one seat in the 2002 elections and four in the 1996 elections before that.

Kashmir, terrorism or ongoing peace talks did not figure in her speech.

The journalists who are usually habitual of listening about Kashmir issue and terrorism could not even hear a single word about Kashmir ‘s problem. Maya talked nothing about Kashmir but she took the Congress, BJP and their supporting parties in their coalition to task for plight of the people particularly of those living below poverty line during her fourty minute long speech.

Jammu and Kashmir Gujjars and nomadic Bakarwals were also seen in visible numbers and frequently raised slogans BSP zinda abad, Maya Behna Aagay Badao Hum Tumaray Sath Hai hailing the Uttar Pradesh chief minister.
