Mumbai : The Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG)-led Reliance Communications Tuesday launched a colour mobile handset in India.
S.P. Shukla, president, personal business, Reliance Communications, said: “Reliance today became first in the world to launch a feature-rich colour handset at an astonishing price of Rs.999.”
Shukla said that the Classic range of monochrome handsets the company had launched in May sold more than 10 million pieces.
Speaking to IANS on the sidelines of the launch, Shukla said: “A feature-rich Classic 7332 colour handset at Rs.999 will become the entry-level handset for every new Reliance mobile user in the country.”
Reliance Communications has a customer base of over 38 million, including over 1.2 million individual overseas retail customers. It ranks among ten top Asian telecom companies.
“Reliance Communications’ corporate clientele includes 600 Indian companies, 250 MNCs and over 200 global carriers,” said Shukla.
“Classic 7332 has a 500-entry phonebook, SMS on call reject, speakerphone and a host of other features that are rarely seen in most entry-level colour handsets. Classic is our first operator-driven handset brand,” he added.
