Musharraf most honest leader in country’s history: Rashid

ISLAMABAD, Oct 5 (APP): Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed Friday said President Musharraf was the most honest leader in history as he has no palaces abroad, not wanted in any scandal, oil for food programme, have no steel mill and no sugar mill, etc.

Speaking in Geo’s ‘The Great Debate’ he said there is not even a single corruption charge against the president. President Musharraf is planning to permanently settle here in Islamabad as he is constructing a house.

He said President’s policies can be opposed but accusation of corruption can not be hurled on him as he is upright person.

President respects the Supreme Court and he honored its decisions – opposition wants to make apex court hostage by trying to dictate its own terms.

He said president will doff uniform soon as only one over match is left let the people be patient.

Regarding decrease in corruption he said women should be made head of important institutions it will lessen corruption in society.

Terming the deal with the PPP as unparliamentary word he said talks are being held with various political parties including the PPP.Government was striving hard to promote national consensus.

Responding to a question he said media was enjoying unprecedented freedom as compared to democratic governments.More than 70 TV channels are working in the country.
