UNHCR called on donor countries to raise aid for Yemen

Sana’a, : The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has called upon donor countries and organizations to increase their supports for Yemen to be able to do its humanitarian duties towards refugees on its territories, said the deputy minister of foreign affairs Mohi-al-Deen al-Dhabi.

After his participation in the 58th round of the UNHCR’s Executive Committee held in Geneva, Al-Dhabi – the head of the Supreme National Committee of the Refugees’ Affairs – said that the
International community has been mobilized to augment assistance offered to Yemen to face the refugee flows coming from the African Horn’s countries particularly Somalia.

Al-Dhabi made it clear that, on the sidelines of the round, he held talks with the UNHCR’s high commissioner over doubling the budget of the UNHCR’s office in the country for 2008.
