Las Vegas, (IANS) Three birdies in the last six holes enabled Arjun Atwal to come up with one of his best results of the PGA Tour season that is now fast approaching its end.
Atwal carded a three-under 69 and totalled a nine-under 278 at the Frys.com Open. He tied for 21st, a big improvement on his 36th place after three rounds.
Daniel Chopra who has already secured his card for 2008 shot a 72 and finished 44th, slipping from his overnight position of 36th.
After starting with a birdie on first, Atwal Sunday ran into a bogey on the 11th, but then sank birdies on the 13th, 16th and 18th to round off the day at 69. He earlier shot 68 at TPC Canyons and then rounds of 69 and 72 at TPC Summerlin. The tournament is played on two courses and the final two rounds are at Summerlin.
The 21st place was also Atwal’s best finish in 12 starts on the PGA Tour this season. He has made six cuts and missed six.
Chopra shot rounds of 66, 70, 73 in the first three rounds. While Atwal is 202nd, Chopra is 101st on the Money List.
