“Early in the morning, a US helicopter struck at a house in a rural area in the town of Dijla, 150 km north of Baghdad, killing 16 people, including seven women and three children, and wounding 14 others,” said Brigadier Jasim Muhammad, deputy police chief of Salahudin province.

The incident took place when a US helicopter first opened fire on three local farmers, who were irrigating their farm in the suburb of Dijla town early in the morning, wounding two of them, Muhammad told Xinhua, citing reports from the town’s local police.

The two wounded were transported to a nearby house, where local residents gathered, but were surprised when US helicopters launched another attack, destroying the house, killing and wounding some 30 of them, Muhammad said.

The US military did not confirm the incident yet.
