Advocacy group of Indian Muslims in USA, Indian Muslim Council-USA(IMC-USA) demanded the immediate dismissal of the state government of Gujarat lead and imposition of President’s rule.

IMC-USA was responding to the “incriminating evidence recorded from none other than the perpetrators of the ghastly crimes during the 2002 pogroms.”

Reports of killings and inhuman treatment of Muslims men, women, children and unborn lives were reported widely by Indian Media. Several independent reports by organizations like Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International implicated government and administration of Gujarat for involvement of Gujarat genocide of Muslims in 2002.

IMC-USA also made note that the confession of national TV by former Home Minister Gordhan Zadaphia also leaves little doubt that Narendra Modi was involved in facilitating “crimes against humanity.”

Under cover investigation by Tehelka for the first time put on the record key players of Gujarat genocide of 2002 admitting their involvement and help they got from police, administration and Narendra Modi’s blessings.

Demanding immediate dismissal of the Gujarat government, Vice-President of IMC-USA, Mirza Baig said that “it is not fitting for the largest democracy to have murderers, rapists and arsonists strutting around with impunity and gloating over their horrific deeds.” He contrasted this with the treatment given to Muslim youth, and other disadvantaged sections of the society who are arrested and tortured just on the basis of suspicion. A case in point is reports coming out from Hyderabad where a number of Muslim youth have been illegally detained and tortured in the aftermath of Hyderabad bomb blasts.

“The rule of law must reign supreme for the citizenry to put their faith in the government. The Government of India has a responsibility to answer the citizens as to what is preventing them from bringing down the fullest weight of the law upon these criminals.”, said Mirza Baig, Vice-President of IMC-USA.

Rasheed Ahmed, President of IMC-USA stated that: “It is next to impossible to expect that justice will be done inside the state of Gujarat.” Adding that “IMC-USA demands the constitution of a special fast track court, outside Gujarat, to speedily prosecute and serve justice to the victims of crimes against humanity.”

The statement released by IMC-USA saluted the daring and courageous efforts of journalist Ashish Khetan and Tehelka in bringing out the truth of one of the worst massacres of independent India. “They have done the best service to the country by exposing the Hindutva forces that threaten to destabilize the nation from within.”, read the statement.
