Damascus : President Bashar al-Assad affirmed on Thursday Syria’s firm stance to preserve the security, stability and territorial integrity of Iraq.
That came when al-Assad received Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Mahmoud al-Mashhadani and reviewed with him the situations on the Iraqi arena.
There was an assertion on rejection of any partition proposals that harm Iraq’s unity.
Al-Mashhadani thanked al-Assad and Syria for the support they offer to Iraq whether on the level of the ongoing political process, or on the level of facilities to the Iraqi refugees.
The meeting was attended by Speaker of People’s Assembly and the Iraqi speaker delegation.
Later, Vice President Farouk al-Shara completed talks with Al-Mashhadani in the presence of Deputy Speaker of the People’s Assembly Radwan Habib and Deputy Vice President Mohammad Nasif.
