New Delhi : Delhi Police Saturday effected major changes in their senior ranks, a day after reshuffling several deputy commissioners of police (DCPs) and creating a new police district.
Deep Chand, joint commissioner of police (JCP) (Security), has been transferred as JCP (Prime Minister Security).
Chand will replace Sudhir Yadav, who has been named new JCP of the Crime Against Women Cell.
“K.D. Singh, JCP (Training), will be the new JCP (Security), while P.N. Aggarwal has been transferred to the training wing. Aggarwal was previously the JCP of anti-corruption wing,” a Delhi Police spokesman said.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Riots Cell) Keval Singh replaces S.B.K. Singh as the additional commissioner of police (Police Headquarters).
S.B.K. Singh will be in charge of the Economic Offences Wing (EOW).
R.S. Krishnaiah, additional commissioner of police (Security), has replaced Deependra Pathak as new additional commissioner of police (General Administration). Pathak has gone on deputation to the petroleum and natural gas ministry.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Provisions & Logistics) Dilip Kumar has been moved to the anti-corruption wing in the same rank.
On Friday, Delhi Police effected a major reshuffle among deputy commissioners of police (DCPs) and also created a new police district by splitting one of the largest ones.
The new police district will be called Outer Delhi District. With this, the number of police districts in the city rises to 10.
“We have created a new police district. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (northwest) Sagarpreet Hooda has been promoted to DCP and will head the new district,” the spokesman said.
The decisions were announced late Friday.
“The new district has been made after bifurcating Northwest Delhi District. The step has been taken to ensure better policing and more security in the border areas adjoining Haryana,” the official added.
Until now Delhi was divided into nine police districts – Central, North, Northwest, East, Northeast, South, Southwest, West and New Delhi.
DCP Southwest R.S. Yadav was transferred to Special Branch, replacing R.K. Sharma.
Sharma has been moved to DCP Security. Madhup Tiwari, who was in charge of Security, replaces A.S. Cheema as DCP Crime and Railways.
Shalini Singh, the present DCP Vigilance, has been moved to DCP Southwest. Sharad Aggarwal, DCP of 3rd and 6th battalion of Delhi Armed Police, has been appointed the new DCP Vigilance.
