Pak national among 2 LeT militants killed in Jammu

Jammu : An Pakistani national among two Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were gunned down by the police and army in two joint operations in Reasi and Ramban districts of Jammu region.

Official sources told News Agency of Kashmir that acting on a specific information, police and 59 Rashtriya Rifles launched a joint search operation in Nakka-Pathri area in Reasi district last on Saturday night.

The troops, sources said, cordoned off a hideout of the militants triggering a gun battle between the two sides.

Sources said that troops managed to gun down on of the hiding militants, while two others managed to break the cordon.

The slain militant has been identified as Roshan Din alias Abu Darda. One AK rifle, four magazines, 89 rounds, one wireless set and one binocular were recovered from the area, sources added.

Meanwhile, defence spokesman said that security forces and police launched a joint operation in Gund-Bala of Ramban district during the wee hours today.

The operation culminated in a encounter, which lasted for more than three hours, he said. A Pakistani militant, identified as Abu Muslim of LeT was killed, in the encounter. One AK rifle, three grenades, seven magazines, one wireless set and some explosives were recovered from the slain militant, the sources said.
